Detail Itinerary for 9 Days Gasa Hot Spring Tour and Trek
Day 01: Arrive Paro and Paro Sightseeing (Altitude: 2280 m)
Upon arrival at the Paro International Airport, you will be received by the representative of Yak Holidays Int’l and transfer you to your hotel.
After lunch,
- Ta Dzong (built in 1656 and renovated in 1968)
- Rimpung Dzong(literally meaning “Heap of Jewels”) and walk across the Nyemi Zam to your car.
- Evening at leisure or a visit to a farm house can be arranged.
Day 02: Paro Sightseeing: Acclimatization:
You will begin an early morning hike to the Taktsang monastery. In this exercise, you will be gaining roughly 800 meters in less than three hours. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria.
After lunch,
- Drive to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong
- Kyichu Lhakhang.
Day 03: Paro – Thimphu (Altitude: 2320 m) (Distance: 54 km, 1 hr drive):
After breakfast, drive to Thimphu. On the way,
- View Tamchog Lhakhang.
- Visit Simtokha Dzong the oldest fortress in Bhutan built in the 17th century by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the unifier of Bhutan.
After Lunch, visit
- Drive to Sangay Gang viewpoint to have a full view of Thimphu valley.
- Takin Preserve Center where National Animals are kept.
- Tashichho Dzong, fortress of the glorious religion.
Evening at leisure. Your guide can take you to a few souvenir shops if you desire.
Day 04: Thimphu – Punakha (Altitude: 1310 m) (76 km, 3 hrs):
After breakfast, drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass (3150 m).
- Royal Botanical Park at Lamperi.
After lunch, visit
- Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.
- Punakha Suspension Bridge
Day 05. Punakha – Gasa (71 km, 3hrs):
After breakfast, drive to Gasa. From the road point, walk an hour to reach the Tsachu (hot spring). Enjoy the Gasa hot springs and dip yourself in the hot springs and get rejuvenated. Overnight in camp.
Day 06: Tsachu – Gangtey (Altitude: 3120 m)(139 km, 6-7 hrs):
Dip yourself once again in the hot spring before taking a hike to the Gasa town about an hour from the hot spring. While in town, visit
We then drive to Punakha. After lunch, drive to Gangtey.
Day 07: Gangtey – Wangdi Phodrang – Thimphu (2320 m)(144 km, 6-7 hrs):
After Breakfast, visit:
- Gangtey Gompa – Gyaltse Pema Thinley, the grandson and mind reincarnation of Pema Lingpa founded the Temple in 1613, and Tenzin Legpai Dhendup.
- Explore Phobjikha valley, famous for the Black Necked Cranes during winter.
After lunch, drive to Wangdi / Metshina and hike to Chime Lhakhang, which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley. The Temple is also known as “the Temple of Fertility”.
Day 08: Thimphu Sightseeing – Paro (2280 m)(54 km, 1 hr):
After breakfast, visit
- Memorial Chorten
- The National Library
- The National Folk Heritage Museum
- The Traditional Painting school of Arts and Crafts
- The Institute of Traditional Medicine
After lunch,
Day 09: Departure from Paro:
Early morning, drive to the airport and farewell.
