Afternoon – Visit Punakha dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It is the winter residence of Je Khenpo and the monk Body.
Then hike to the beautiful Khamsum Yulley monastery.
In the evening, walk across the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan (160 meters).

A short stop on the way to view Wangdue Phodrang dzong. The upper part of the valley is called Gangtey and lower part is called Phobjikha. This cup shaped glacial valley is considered the most beautiful in Himalayas. It is the roosting ground of the rare black necked cranes in winter.
While in Gangtey, visit Gangtey Gompa monastery built in 1613 by Gyaltse Pema Thinley. This monastery also hosts the annual Gangtey festival and the crane information center.
