The five day Paro tshechu festival 2024 in Bhutan will be held at Rinpung dzong in Paro during the spring season. It is one of the most spectacular festivals in Bhutan and a major tourist attraction from around the world. On the first day, all mask dances are held inside the courtyard of Rinpung dzong. In subsequent days, the courtyard outside the dzong hosts the festival. You can witness the most prominent display of the world’s greatest Thanka on Bhutan Paro festival tour.

A short stop on the way to view Tamchog monastery. Thang Tong Gyalpo, a Tibetan Lama popularly known as “The Iron bridge builder” built it in the year 1420. He built 108 bridges across Tibet and Bhutan and 8 were built in Bhutan.
Afternoon, visit to national memorial chorten built in honor of the third King, Late His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Then visit the tallest statue of sitting Buddha in the world at Kuensel Phodrang (51.5 m). Finally visit the craft bazaar where you can buy Bhutanese handicrafts and art works.
In the evening, visit to Tashichho dzong, seat of the national government and central monastic body.

In the morning, visit Changangkha lhakhang. This is the oldest temple in Thimphu valley built in the 13th century by Phajo Drugom Zhigpo. Then visit Takin preserve center (Takin is the national animal of Bhutan), Sangaygang view point and Dupthop lhakhang, one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan.
Lunch at Simply Bhutan, where you can enjoy typical Bhutanese dishes, Ara (local alcohol), witness folk dances and many more.
In the afternoon, visit postal museum where you can print your photos on the official Bhutanese stamps. Then visit painting school (The school of 13 arts and crafts).

We stop at Dochu la Pass (3140 m) with 108 chortens and enjoy the view of the Himalayas.
On the way, visit Chimi lhakhang built in 1499 by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, popularly known as “The divine madman”. The temple is also called “the temple of fertility”. He travelled throughout Bhutan and Tibet using songs and humor to dramatize his teachings of salvation through sex.
In the afternoon, visit the beautiful Punakha dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.
In the evening, hike to the imperial Khamsum Yulley monastery. This monastery was built by Her Majesty the Queen Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck.

On the way, we take a view the Wangdue Phodrang dzong built in 1638 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.
While in Gangtey, visit Gangtey Gompa monastery built in 1613 by Gyaltse Pema Thinley. Then visit the crane information center.
In the evening, explore the beautiful Phobjikha valley, the roosting ground of the rare black necked cranes in winter.

The Paro festival in Bhutan is very popular as it is the grandest festival with varieties of mask dances performed by the monks of Rinpung dzong and folk dances by the local people of Paro valley. The highlight of the festival is Throngdroel ceremony which takes place early in the morning (3 am) on the last day of the festival. The monks carry the Throngdroel (large Thanka) which is around 400 years old and hang it from the building. The Buddhists believe that the mere sight of this Thanka can cleanse their sins. The people travel from far and wide and some even walk for days to get blessed with this Thanka.
