This festival is held at Ngaa lhakhang in Nalakhar village and is for three (3) days. The local people come to attend the festival dressed in finest clothes. The festival is celebrated to bring happiness and prosperity to the village and the country as a whole. It is also a symbolic prayer for good harvest and for the well being of everyone. This festival is one of the best community based festivals in Bhutan.
The cost given below is inclusive of sustainable development fee (SDF) of US $ 100 per person per night and Bhutan visa fee US $ 40 per person.

In the afternoon, visit Ta dzong, the national museum of Bhutan.
Then visit Rinpung dzong built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It serves as the administrative center of Paro district.
In the evening, free to stroll in the town for shopping and photography.

– Jakar dzong built in 1667.
– Jambay lhakhang built by King Srongtsen Gampo of Tibet in 659 AD on the same day as Kichu lhakhang in Paro.
– Tamshing lhakhang (Temple of the good message), established in 1501 by Pema Lingpa.
– Kurjey lhakhang, where you can see the body print of Guru Rinpoche.

After early breakfast, drive to Nalakhar monastery and witness the Nalakhar festival 2024 (Full day).
In the evening, visit to Kencho Sum lhakhang.

– Mebar tsho or “The burning lake” where Terton Pema Lingpa discovered the treasures hidden by Guru Rinpoche.

In the morning, drive to Gangtey and visit:
– Trongsa dzong built in 1648 by Chogyal Minjur Tempa. It was the seat of power over central and eastern Bhutan. The first two Kings of Bhutan ruled the country from this ancient seat.
– Ta dzong, the royal heritage museum.
In the afternoon, visit to Gangtey Gompa monastery. This monastery was founded in 1613 Gyaltse Pema Thinley, the grandson of Pema Lingpa.
In the evening, explore the beautiful Phobjikha valley, the roosting ground of the rare black necked cranes in winter.

– Wangdue Phodrang dzong built in 1638 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.
– Chimi lhakhang, the temple of fertility built in 1499 to honor Lama Drukpa Kuenley, the divine madman of Bhutan. He travelled throughout Bhutan and Tibet using songs and humor to spread his teachings of salvation through sex. Many childless couples visit this temple for prayer and to seek blessings. This temple is the main highlight of honeymoon in Bhutan.
In the afternoon, visit to:
– Punakha dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It is the winter residence of Je Khenpo, the chief abbot of Bhutan.
In the evening, hike to the beautiful Khamsum Yulley monastery built by Her Majesty the Queen Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck.

In the morning, drive to Thimphu. On the way, explore the beautiful Dochula pass with 108 stupas. The annual Druk Wangyel festival is held here on the 13th December.
In the afternoon, visit postal museum where you can print your pictures on the official Bhutanese stamps.
Then visit the royal textile museum.
Evening – witness archery match at Changlimithang stadium.

– The national memorial chorten (1974) built in honor of Late His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.
– Tallest statue of sitting Buddha in the world (51.5 m) at Kuensel Phodrang.
– Changangkha lhakhang, the oldest temple in Thimphu valley built in the 13th century by lama Phajo Drugom Shigpo.
– Takin preserve center. The Bhutanese believe that this animal was created by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, the divine madman of Bhutan.
– Sangay gang view point from where you can enjoy the great view of Thimphu valley and surrounding hills.
– Dupthop lhakhang one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan.

– Painting school (The school of 13 arts and crafts).
– Tashichho dzong, the royal secretariat and the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the chief abbot of Bhutan.
In the evening, free to stroll in the town for shopping and photography.

– Tamchog monastery built in 1420 by Thang Tong Gyalpo, popularly called Lama Chazampa. He built 108 bridges across Tibet and Bhutan.
– Hike to the Tiger’s nest monastery (Paro Taktsang). It is believed that Guru Rinpoche who brought Buddhism in Bhutan flew here on a flying Tigress. This temple is probably the most photographed monument in Bhutan. The hiking trail is also a part of the beautiful Bumdra trek in Paro valley. It is certainly one of the main highlights of this trip.
In the afternoon, visit to:
– Drugyal dzong built in 1647 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It served as a defense post against the Tibetan invasions in ancient times. An accidental fire destroyed it and was left in ruins until recently.
– Kichu lhakhang built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan king Srongtsen Gampo. He built 108 temples across the Himalayan region in a single day.
