Ura Yakchoe Tshechu Festival in Bhutan 2025

Your guide and the driver will receive you at the Paro airport and drive to the Hotel.

In the afternoon, visit to Ta dzong, the national museum of Bhutan. Then visit Rinpung dzong built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It serves as the administrative centre of Paro district.

In the evening, free to stroll in the town.

In the morning, drive to the airport and fly to Bumthang.

Meet & greet at the Badbalathang airport.

Afternoon, visit to:

– Jakar dzong built in 1667 by Nagi Wangchuk.
Jambay lhakhang built in 659 AD by the King Srongtsen Gampo of Tibet.
– Tamshing lhakhang (Temple of the good message), established in 1501 by Pema Lingpa.
– Kurjey lhakhang, where you can see the body print of Guru Rinpoche on a rock. It is probably one of the oldest monastery in Bumthang.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

After early breakfast, drive to the beautiful Ura valley.

Witness the spectacular Ura Yakchoe festival 2025 (Full day) and explore Ura village.

In the evening, drive back to Bumthang. On the way, visit Mebar tsho or “The burning lake”. It was here that Terton Pema Lingpa discovered the treasures hidden by Guru Rinpoche in the 14th century.

In the morning, drive to the beautiful Tang valley and visit Ogen Choling palace.

After lunch, explore the beautiful Tang valley.

In the evening, drive back to Bumthang and visit Kenchosum temple.

After breakfast, drive to Gangtey.

On the way, visit Ta dzong, the royal heritage museum.

Then visit Trongsa dzong built in 1648 by Chogyal Minjur Tempa. The first two kings of Bhutan ruled the country from this ancient seat.

Afternoon, drive further to the beautiful Gangtey valley. Visit Gangtey Gompa monastery founded by Gyaltse Pema Thinley, the grandson and mind re-incarnation of Pema Lingpa.

In the evening, visit crane information centre and explore Phobjikha / Gangtey valley, the most beautiful glacial valley in the Himalayas.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

After breakfast, drive to Punakha. On the way, visit Wangdue Phodrang dzong built in 1638 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It was destroyed by fire in 2012.

Then visit Chimi lhakhang also called the “Temple of fertility” built in 1499 by Lama Drukpa Kuenley (The divine madman). He travelled throughout Bhutan and Tibet using songs, humor to dramatize his teachings of salvation through sex. Many childless couples from across the country visit the temple for prayer and to seek blessings. It is also the highlight of our honeymoon tour in Bhutan.

In the afternoon, visit Punakha dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Punakha is the winter residence of Je Khenpo, the chief abbot of Bhutan. King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck convened the first national assembly here in 1952.

In the evening, hike to the beautiful Khamsum Yulley monastery (short hike 45 minutes). It was built by Her Majesty the Queen Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck for long life of His Majesty.

In the Morning, drive to Thimphu.

On the way, visit the royal botanical garden at Lam Pelri. The annual rhododendron festival is held here in the spring. Then visit 108 stupas at Dochula pass and view higher Himalayas.

In the afternoon, visit to:

– National postal museum where you can print your pictures on the official Bhutanese stamps,

– Royal textile museum,

– Craft bazaar,

– Tashichho dzong, the royal secretariat and the summer residence of chief abbot of Bhutan.

In the morning, visit the national memorial chorten (1974) built in honor of late His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

Then visit the tallest statue of Buddha in the world and Takin preserve center.

Finally visit Changangkha lhakhang, Sangay gang view point and Dupthop lhakhang one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan.

Afternoon – visit the school of 13 arts and crafts (Painting school) and folk heritage museum.

In the evening, free to stroll in the town for shopping and photography.

In the Morning, drive to Paro.

On the way, visit Tamchog monastery built in 1420 by Thang Tong Gyalpo. He built 108 bridges across Tibet and Bhutan.

– Hike to the spectacular Tiger’s nest monastery (Paro Taktsang) which is a world heritage site. It is probably the most photographed monument in the country. It is believed that Guru Rinpoche, who brought buddhism to Bhutan flew here on a tigress. The hiking trail is also a part of the beautiful Bumdra trek in Paro valley.

Afternoon, visit Drugyel dzong built in 1647 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. This dzong was used as a fortress to defend the country against the Tibetan forces in ancient times.

Then visit Kichu lhakhang built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan king Srongtsen Gampo.

In the evening, free to stroll in the town for shopping and photography.
